\nHow could machine learning make human interfaces more fluid? Instead of automating human creativity, how could AI-powered media make it easier to play the machine as an instrument – to dance with the machine? How can we get our bodies back in AI? <\/p>\n

This year, S\u00f3nar+D is offering you the chance to participate in an AI Performance Playground Hacklab, exploring how AI and technology can enhance artistic creativity. Led by renowned technologist, artist and writer Peter Kirn and multidisciplinary artistry and musician Cibelle Cavalli Bastos, it offers you an opportunity to work side-by-side with artists from various disciplines, using machine learning as a tool for creative discovery.<\/p>\n

This \u2018Performance Playground\u2019 will be a space for artists from a range of disciplines – code, electronic music production, instrumental performance and singing, dance, puppetry, or whatever else you feel like bringing. Over two days of workshops at S\u00f3nar+D on Thursday 13th and Friday 14th June, the selected participants will explore the creation and customisation of local data sets, while also building collaborative performance tools. On Saturday 15th June, the Hacklab will conclude with a final collaborative performance onstage at S\u00f3nar+D.<\/p>\n

The Open Call for participation is now open, with applications accepted from anyone with an interest in the intersection between art, music, performance and technology. You don\u2019t need to have past experience – but you do need to be open-minded, willing to learn and to collaborate! <\/p>\n

Deadline for applications is midnight on Sunday 28th April, with 12 participants selected personally by Peter and Cibelle. <\/p>\n

What to bring and what to expect:
\nBring a laptop and any other devices you want to use – musical instruments, cameras, other toys and tools etc.
\nBear in mind that this is a collaborative hacklab, and not a place where you\u2019ll be able to work on your own ideas. Come prepared to explore and develop ideas as part of a collaborative group.
