*Adam Savage talks a lot about “order of operations.” Alexander Calder is an intensely iuntuitive creative, so his order of operations is to juggle a lot of scrap and debris first, in order to get creatively warmed-up.<\/p>\n

*Also, this Calder surface is not a workshop table. This is Calder’s *business desk,* where he’s meeting commercial obligations and signing contracts. Calder *hates that.* He deliberately keeps it as a swamp so that he won’t become mentally trapped in the habits of the bourgeoisie.<\/p>\n
