From anxieties about AI development to the rapid shifts in atmospheric carbon and temperature, news and media increasingly deliver a foreboding interpretation of the world. Whether it\u2019s the return of the past in the present or conspiracies nested within conspiracies, networks, and platforms have become a playground for entertainment and fear. As this undercurrent of foreboding permeates across digital platforms, transmediale welcomes new or ongoing projects that question what kinds of illogical, irrational, and unusable politics and affect emerge?<\/p>\n

\nIn collaboration with the Ministry of the Cultures, Arts and Heritage of Chile and DIRAC – Division for Cultures, Arts, Heritage and Public Diplomacy Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Chile, transmediale invites applications to the second iteration of its residency. The two-month residency will take place at transmediale studio in Berlin, and is open to Chilean or Chile based artists and researchers.<\/p>\n

\nIn collaboration with the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia, transmediale invites four residents for two-month hybrid residencies (one month online, one month in Berlin) between July and September 2023. It will be awarded to four artists: two artists from or based in Switzerland, and two artists from any nationality or locality.<\/p>\n

\nJoin 2023 Vil\u00e9m Flusser resident Alice Bucknell (https:\/\/transmediale.de\/en\/people\/alice-bucknell) in conversation with artist Sahej Rahal (https:\/\/www.sahejrahal.com\/) , where the two will discuss weird temporalities, blurring fact and fiction, and game worlds as narrative environments for speculative storytelling. The artists will screen recent works including Rahal\u2019s finalforest.exe (2021) and Bucknell\u2019s WIP film and game project, The Alluvials, currently in development during the residency.<\/p>\n

\nVon der Sorge um die Entwicklung von KI bis hin zu den raschen Ver\u00e4nderungen des Kohlenstoffgehalts und der Temperatur in der Atmosph\u00e4re \u2013 Nachrichten und Medien vermitteln zunehmend ein d\u00fcsteres Bild der Welt. Ob es sich um die R\u00fcckkehr der Vergangenheit in die Gegenwart oder um Verschw\u00f6rungen innerhalb von Verschw\u00f6rungen handelt, Netzwerke und Plattformen sind zu einem Schauplatz f\u00fcr Unterhaltung und Angst geworden.
