SOURCE, a new exhibition from Feral File

Wednesday 20th September, 2023 - Bruce Sterling

Now Open: SOURCE, a 0xDEAFBEEF, Operator, and Casey REAS collaboration

SOURCE, an exhibition looking back on the energy and enthusiasm during the last few years around art, code, and blockchains, is now open. Comprising over two dozen artworks selected by curators 0xDEAFBEEF, Casey REAS, and Operator (Ania Catherine, Dejha Ti), SOURCE pauses to take stock of what’s happened recently in the world of generative and digital art — and highlights the iconic work that has expanded people’s understanding of what art on the blockchain can be.

Dive into the curatorial vision and the themes that emerged from the wide variety of works in SOURCE.
SOURCE’s incredible line-up of featured artists includes:

Anna Lucia + Gee’s Bend Quilters, DADA, Emily Xie, Godmin, Harm van den Dorpel, fingacode, Holly Herndon + Mat Dryhurst, Iskra Velitchkova + Zach Lieberman, Jonas Lund, Lauren Lee McCarthy, Mario Klingemann, Mathcastles, Matt Kane, Maya Man, Melissa Wiederrecht, Mitchell F. Chan, Primavera De Filippi, qubibi, Ross Goodwin, Sarah Friend, Sarah Zucker, Sasha Stiles, Siebren Versteeg, Steve Pikelny, Travess Smalley

SOURCE is a non-commercial exhibition, meaning no works will be sold. Unlike every other Feral File show to date, the artworks in SOURCE were previously released somewhere else, through a range of galleries, platforms, and systems. As the curators put it, “We’ve assembled them here to reflect on the artworks in relation to each other and to highlight what these artists have been thinking about and making recently… SOURCE is a moment in time.”
