Rebuilding a relic Spanish water mill

*This device is especially noteworthy because it’s a water-powered industrial device that nobody is going to use. It’s a heritage reconstruction, and rebuilding it exactly was almost a work of performance art.

“In the Cantabrian municipality of Vega de Liébana is the small town of Ledantes. There, the stream of Las Viñas supplied the driving force to launch one of the most important hydraulic devices in past centuries: PISA DE LEDANTES. In 2008, the company Artesonados Navarrete, specialists in assembly carpentry, was in charge of restoring and building the tread or fulling mill as it was in the past.”
