Forty years of V2_ Lab for the Unstable Media

Friday 10th September, 2021 - Bruce Sterling

On September 4, 2021, V2_ turned 40. To celebrate four decades of explorations in art, media and technology, we are embarking on a year of archival and curatorial study of some of the most iconic works, publications and presentations from those 40 years.

In the two weeks leading up to V2_’s anniversary, we invited our community members to vote for their personal favorites in an online survey. The results can now be viewed in a slide show on our website and at our venue. It serves as a historical overview celebrating V2_’s anniversary and kicking off our year of research into the most iconic works from 40 years of V2_: how they came into being, the artists behind them, and their current relevance.

We thank everyone who participated in the survey and shared their nominations for the most iconic works in our archive. Your responses have been collected, and they encourage us in our ambition to celebrate V2_’s first four decades by exploring this rich history together with our community.
