The Versifier by Bruce Sterling
Mufant’s interest in P. Levi’s Versificatore converges with the artistic project of Bruce Sterling , an American science fiction writer, founder of the cyberpunk movement, as well as artistic director of Share Festival, the Turin festival of technological art.
Over the last two years, Sterling has launched a research project focused on the Versificator, promoting its uniqueness as a Turin-based technological forerunner of today’s artificial intelligence, to be promoted internationally as well.
The Versificatore, co-produced by Sterling and Mufant, is now on display at MUFANT. It is a faithful, technologically advanced replica of the model featured in the 1970s RAI drama of the same name, and was created in collaboration with Turin designer Marcello Michielini and the American studio Multiplayer.
The exhibition area also features a digital version of the Versificator in the Museum’s metaverse, accessible to visitors through a VR headset, created by digital creator Mariano Equizzi.
