NOME, after 11 years of experience in Berlin, opens in Turin. Trans Europe Express is the journey of the gallery’s program which, as it moves, renews itself while always maintaining a critical approach toward the stories of the past and the contemporaneity.

The exhibition covers many of the themes explored by the program over the years, showcasing the different expressive techniques of the artists involved: from online performances aimed at denouncing the privacy market and asserting the right to be forgotten, to textile counter-cartographies that highlight the use of geography as a tool of control, to the transformation of personal experience into abstract, graphic language, and the staging, in the form of a video cantata, of the clash between European and American colonizers and Indigenous peoples in South America.

Three new artists, Bassim Al Shaker, Mimi Brignon, and Cow Mothepa, presented for the first time in Italy, are introduced in the program. A preview of an oil painting with aesthetic influences from Mesopotamian culture, inspired by the experience of the war in Iraq; an acrylic canvas with newspaper collage that links a political reflection on contemporary Africa to the pictorial representation of everyday life; a new work in which Indigenous epistemology merges with the expressive modes of textile art as a critical inquiry into the role of women in contemporary African society.
