Open “Creative R&D” Call from Serpentine Galleries and Future Art Ecosystems

Wednesday 6th May, 2026 - Bruce Sterling

Dear Friends,

We are delighted to announce the launch of a new Creative R&D fellowship for practitioners working across art and advanced technologies.

Taking place over six months from September 2026 to March 2027 and offering a £10,000 stipend to four fellows, the FAE Fellowship is a low-residency programme inviting both individuals and collectives to pursue creative R&D connected to their practice or a project in development. The theme of the inaugural edition is convergence, which explores the breakdown of boundaries that keep technical, legal, cultural and material systems apart.

Through professional and specialist mentorship, network development, cohort exchange and public-facing process sharing, the FAE Fellowship supports research in motion, strengthening both individual trajectories and the wider conditions that make ambitious work possible.

The application deadline is midnight BST 7 June 2026, with info sessions taking place on 15 May, 2026 and 22 May, 2026, respectively.

The FAE Fellowship is Serpentine Arts Technologies’ major new annual R&D initiative. Each year the fellowship will be structured around a central theme designed to resonate with urgent questions relating to art, technology and society. FAE Fellowship is made possible by Glass Castle Foundation.

That’s all for now!
